| Samson attacks the Philistines |
Evidentally, Samson didn't know that the woman he was going to
marry (before the riddle incident) had married his companion, since
he was intending to 'go in to her in her room'; her dad stops him and
tells him that he gave her in marriage to samson's companion since it
seemed as though samson hated her. Samson, as expected, flies into a
rage; he catches 300 foxes, ties their tales together to torchs (two to
a torch), then sets them loose in the standing grain (and vineyards and
groves) of the philisitines.
well, the philistines get mad, and find out who/why did this; they go and burn samsons intended wife and father. this angers samson, and so he 'strikes them down ruthlessly and with great slaughter'. |

| Samson kills 1000 philistines with the jawbone of an ass |
After killing lots of Philistines, samson goes and lives in the rocks of Etam.
The philistines come looking for revenge (about the grain) with an army; the men
of Judah come to Samson to hand him over to the Philistines. He agress to go with
them, so long as they don't hurt him themselves.
When he gets to the Philistines, he breaks the rope, picks up the jawbone of an ass, and kills 1000 of the Philistines with it. Funny note : after his big fight, he's awful thirsty. He whines to God, and God splits "the hollow place in Lehi [where they are] so that water came out of it."; |

| Samson carries the city gates (of Gaza) | Samson is visiting a harlot in Gaza; the philistines find out and surround the city, intending to capture/kill him in the morning when he leaves. He stays in the city till midnight, at which point he goes to the gate, pulls it and its posts out of the ground, and carries the whole thing off to the mountain opposite hebron. | |||||||

| Samson and Delilah; Samson's capture | Samson falls in love with another philistine women, this one named delilah. Delilah asks samson (on behalf of the rest of the philistines) how he may be captured; he gives her several bogus answers, which she tries out unsuccesfully, before he tells here that the secret is his long hair. She has his hair shaved off while he sleeps (and his strength leaves), and then he is captured by the philistines (who put his eyes out and then make him a grinder in prison). | |||||||

| Samson's revenge | Samson's hair grows while he is in prison... Eventually, the philistine's festival for Dagon comes around, and they want to see how they have triumphed over their enemy samson, so they bring him out of prison to gawk. Evidentally, the festival is pretty crowded, because the building that samson is in has all of the philistine lords (etc), and the roof has 3000 people on it. Samson prays that God will allow him to avenge himself, and then pushes the pillars of the house apart to collapse the building. The note to this event is that he killed even more philistines in his death than he did in his life. | |||||||
