Everything But Evangelism
Week 4 - Branding
About the Study...
The idea behind the study is to cover all the aspects of living as a Christian in a non-Christian society other
than the actual specific act of Evangelism.
intro : this is not an issue of new information
1. we all 'know' this
that's probably true for most of this series...
the goal is to encourage clarity and consistency.
2. we should carefully consider this...
the negative : we can make truth look bad
1. When we call ourselves 'Christians', we're associating our names with Christ.
2. Our actions then represent Christ to the world.
People's conception of Christ and Christianity are as bad as the Christians they've known.
"For, as it is written, "The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.""
Rom 2:24 / Isaiah 2:24
the positive : we can make truth look correct
1. When we are Christlike, we accurately portray Christ and the Gospel.
A. This is good regardless of whether people like it or not
our virtue is primarily for god, but it is secondarily/also for the world
1 peter 3:15 - our christianity shows in our hope
But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR
INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being
ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you,
yet with gentleness and reverence;
john 13:34,35 - our love for one another reveals our christianity
a new commandment i give to you, that you love one another, even as i have loved you, that
you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love
for one another
