very similar to the opening of chap 6 "we also urge you not to receive the grace of god in vain"
the end of the excursis on sanctification

v2-4 Make room for us in your hearts!
Paul returns to his motives, the reason we have 2-8
motives in 2 cor :
1:12
1:17
2:23
2:4
2:13 - this is where 7:4 picks up...
3:1 - this starts his description of what his ministry is, which carries us through 5/6.
so 7:2 concludes this section of an appeal to corinth.
the point of chapters 2-6 seems to be to convince corinth of his motives.
v5-16 the narrative returns...
structure :
v5,6 paul and titus meet up
v7-13 paul hears of the corinthians repentance
v14-16 paul hears of the corinthians acceptance of titus

corinth responded with repentence
sorrow is a part of repentance here.
